How to make money in Lagos Life
Most of your money comes from job shifts. It goes out on Saturday rent, a weekly loan if you were born LAPO, food, transport and training. Here’s what we saw in the game, then a calculator to plan your first week.

Base pay vs what you actually keep
The Jobs app shows base pay per shift. That is the starting point, not a promise of what lands in your wallet:
- Tax is taken from pay automatically above the weekly ₦1,000,000 tax-free amount. Seen in game
- Guides tie promotions to “100% performance”, which suggests how you work a shift matters. We haven’t seen how performance affects a payout. Guide-reported
- We haven’t completed a paid shift on our test account yet, so we can’t confirm when pay arrives or whether anything else is deducted. Not verified
Your starting wallet can surprise you too. Our Mushin home was listed as “Start with ₦76,000”, yet the wallet showed ₦1,076,000 after moving in. We don’t know where the extra ₦1,000,000 came from, so don’t plan around it. Always budget from the number you actually see.
Ways to earn that we have evidence for
- Work job shifts. Your main income. Pick a job in Phone › Jobs; Lagos entry pay ranged from ₦6,600 to ₦21,000 per shift. Seen in game Compare jobs.
- Get promoted. Each career has five levels. For example, Banking’s second level (Relationship Officer) is listed at ₦21,000 per shift. Guide-reported
- Unlock a better-paid job. Raising one skill to 3 opens mid-level jobs: Fitness for Medicine (₦21,000), Coding for Product Management (₦20,000). Seen in game
- Paid activities at venues. Some venue panels list work-style activities, such as “Help at the Buka” at Amala Shitta. Seen in game Guides say these pay, and list others like a Freelance Gig at CcHub (needs Coding 2). We haven’t checked the amounts. Guide-reported
- Savings and bonds. Savings paid 0.5% a week and bonds 2% after 7 days. Small amounts, but no effort. Seen in game
- Daily gem hunt. A prompt on the main screen showed “next prize ₦3,000”. We haven’t tried it. Seen in game
- Pitch a startup at CcHub. Reported to need Coding 5 and Charisma 3, and linked to the “Yaba Unicorn” dream. A long-term goal, not a beginner plan. Guide-reported
The in-game phone has a LagosBet app, and guides list bets at the viewing centre and crimes on some venue panels, which they say can land you in a police cell. Neither is a reliable way to fund rent.

How the estimate is calculated
Ending balance = current balance + (pay per shift × shifts − income tax) + other income − rent − loan repayment − (food per day × days) − (transport per day × days) − other costs.
Income tax uses the weekly bands from the Bank app (0% up to ₦1,000,000, then 20%, 40% above ₦10,000,000 and 45% above ₦50,000,000), treated as marginal bands. One-time rewards are added only to the second total.
Beginner money mistakes
- Forgetting Saturday. Rent is due every Saturday at 9 AM, and LAPO players also owe ₦12,000 a week. Keep both aside before spending.
- Planning from someone else’s numbers. Starting money depends on your lottery result and home, and our wallet had an unexplained extra ₦1,000,000. Use your own wallet figure.
- Counting base pay as cash in hand. Plan with a few shifts fewer than you hope to work until you’ve seen your own payouts arrive.
- Paying for rides you don’t need. Walking was free on our trip; rides cost ₦150–₦400 each way.
- Splashing out early. Guides list a ₦45,000 buffet at Eko Hotels and a ₦250,000 VIP table at Quilox. Fun later, painful in week one.
- Buying game money outside the game. The official Terms say in-game naira can’t be sold or transferred outside the game. Top-ups belong on lagoslife.app only.
Money questions
What is the fastest way to make money in Lagos Life as a beginner?
Take a job you can apply for straight away and work your shifts. Among Lagos jobs with no skill lock, Airport Staff (₦12,000) and Banking (₦11,600) showed the highest base pay per shift on 6 October 2026, apart from Refining (₦14,000), whose refinery was marked “Coming soon” on the map. Keep spending low until Saturday rent and any loan repayment are covered.
Do you pay tax on your salary in Lagos Life?
The Bank app showed a weekly income tax: the first ₦1,000,000 of pay each week is tax-free, then 20%, with 40% above ₦10,000,000 and 45% above ₦50,000,000. It is taken from pay automatically and resets every Monday. Bets, sales and gifts are not taxed.
Is the savings account worth it?
Savings paid 0.5% a week and bonds 2% after 7 days when we checked. On ₦50,000 that is about ₦250 a week in savings, so it helps a little but won’t replace shift pay.
Can I sell Lagos Life money for real money?
No. The official Terms say in-game naira has no real-world value and cannot be cashed out, sold or transferred outside the game. Treat anyone offering to buy or sell game money as a red flag.
